To turn on/off traffic mode, tap the traffic light icon in the top left. 

Map Views

The "Road" map view is the standard, which you see above. The middle is "Aerial," which projects a satellite view. 

The final is "Bird's Eye," which while similar to "Aerial," provides a slanted view of the map.
