"Killing" The App
Sometimes in an emergency, the app will need to be closed and restarted. Simply hitting the home button will not close the app but will rather put it in the background. A hard reset of an application is sometimes referred to as "killing" the app.
Accessing the Apps Running List
To start, tap on the home button twice. This will bring up a screen that shows all of your apps currently running on the device.
Killing the App
To kill the app, simply hold your finger over the application's designated square. From here, swipe up with your finger pressed down. The square will follow your finger and eventually off the screen, killing the app. From here, you'll be able to select the app on the home screen to open a fresh instance of the app.
