Managing Data for Multiple Jurisdictions

PublicEye allows for the server admin to allow other jurisdictions (who also have PublicEye) what they are allowed to see from their own jurisdiction.  The admin can also do things such as turning off their own data or taking jurisdictions out of their system.

 Adding A Jurisdiction

The first to adding another jurisdiction is that they must also be running a PublicEye server. However, their CAD or RMS system does not matter. Next, (just like yours) that jurisdiction will control what types of information your jurisdiction is allowed to view.  First, we will start by adding a jurisdiction. Simply navigate to the "Jurisdictions" tab after logging in with the proper credentials. Here, you will see a list of all neighboring jurisdictions.

In this example, I have added a new jurisdiction called "Hudson NH." There are three layers to multi-jurisdiction and data flow.

  1. Data Receiver
  2. Data Provider
  3. Contact Details

The Data Receiver is your data, and what you will be choosing to share with other jurisdictions.

The Data Provider is this specific jurisdiction's data information. So in this case, Hudson, NH's.

The Contact Details is where you will put in the contact information of the individual who controls this specific jurisdiction's data.

To open these fields, click the grey arrow to the left of their title.

Data Receiver

Data Receiver is made up of a few fields.

Authorization Code: Similar to enabling PublicEye on a device, this is a generated code you will provide to the fellow jurisdiction that will allow them to securely enable a connection. Simply click "Generate" to obtain that code.

My JGUID: This is a server side way to identify your jurisdiction to others.

My Server Address: This is the address where your PublicEye is hosted and is also the address you will give to an external jurisdiction when they are ready to make the connection. On the right side,

Data I Am Sharing: This a list that makes up all of the modules currently loaded into your PublicEye server. Simply check the boxes of the modules you would like this specific external jurisdiction to view.

When you are finished, click "Connect."

Data Provider

Server Address of External Jurisdiction: This is where you will enter the external jurisdiction's address for their PublicEye (i.e. your server address under "Data Receiver).

Authorization Code from External Jurisdiction:  This is where you will put the generated authorization code given to you by the external jurisdiction.

Data I Am Receiving: This will list the modules the external jurisdiction has allowed you to view once you are connected.
